Darren Matassa is a 30 -year veteran of the Canadian Radio Marketing Industry. Working initially with Standard Broadcasting in Ottawa, Martz Communications in the U.S. and for the last 21 years has called Belleville home. As the general sales manager for Starboard Communications, he has enjoyed working with many different clients drawing on his many years of very creative and insightful marketing experience. Born and raised in Prince Edward County, I’m a proud daughter of hard-working parents from Wellington who instilled in all of us the rewards of an honest day’s work and dedication to the people of your community.
As such, from a young age, I began working in the family’s home-operated tourism cottages business on the shores of West Lake and, later, taking over a family business owning and operating Wight’s Greenhouses & Flower Shop and Wight’s Landscaping. As that business closed, I ensured our historic commercial location in Wellington remained a vibrant contributor to the local community and opened what is now the very successful Old Greenhouse Ice Cream Shop.
In a nutshell, I know the value of hard work and I know, intimately, the hard work that goes into running a business. One thing I learned in more than three decades of running my own businesses is that all the long hours and dedication don’t result in success at the bottom line if no one knows your business and what you can offer.
With my 14 years of experience as an Account Executive here at Starboard Communications, I know how to craft the best foot forward for your business or organization in presenting itself through advertising. I’ve lived in Belleville my entire life, am married to my husband Roger and have two amazing, active boys. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family, digging in my garden and hanging out at the rink.

Straight out of Loyalist College, Jamie began his radio career right here with Starboard Communications. After two years, he moved to Ottawa and furthered his radio career with Newcap Radio. Five years later his passion for radio moved him to Red Deer, Alberta where he spent another five years with Harvard Broadcasting before moving back with his family to come full circle with Starboard Communications.
